Sending 2015 off in style

Lake Guntersville Winter Time Fishing

Finding the bass is not as easy as it once was, with the crazy weather nothing has been normal. We have been using search baits like lipless and vibrating jigs 1/2oz to 3/4oz and not all grass is the same, 10-12 ft is the depth of our latest catch fishing a little high spot with green grass all over it adjacent to a channel swing made all the difference between a Ok trip and a Awesome Trip.
Water temp is around 60 and the water is stained.

Looking like January might be a great month if the weather stays like it has been.
We are booking up February and March Daily get your trips booked soon.

Mud Lines and Bass

Mud Lines have been the name of the game and bridges. With all the rain the valley had gotten and high current through the lake the bass have had to make a change from the norm.

We Focused on mud line in creeks around old grass lines with moving baits with a lot of vibration and color, we'd manage to pick up a few nice bass doing this, and the other has been bridges the corner make a great current break and the not only are the shad grouped up there the bass are as well, crank baits and jigging spoons have been getting the job done.

Good luck the teams fishing in the Toyota Bass master Team Championship ..

Heres a few pics we snapped in between rain drops.

Yup thats a big Crappie..

Guntersville Kicks out 10 pounder

Guntersville Bass Guides Fishing Report   256-698-6593

Like the title says the BIG G treated me to a 10 pound largemouth! It was a catch of a lifetime and i'll remember it like yesterday for years to come.

Now I haven't done a report in a couple of weeks for a couple of reasons I do apologize so let me get you all up to date.. And my double digit wasn't the only Donkey that came over the side of my boat since my last post..

My Lake Guntersville Personal Best.

Here We Go:

Y'all might recognize this guy, we got out one afternoon and caught em pretty fast off a couple of spots and then it was over. Cranking a BD 1.5 square bill around grass got the job done on this day.

Nothing really large and in charge this day but a lot of bass lot of laughs and happy customers.

Cold!! Chilly north wind fired up this DONKEY couldn't believe he caught this bass on spinning tackle!! This giant Guntersville Bass is a testament that any cast can be a monster bass!

This was my last Bass in my Legend V20. Left right after I let her go. I had to get my new boat.

Stopped and made a few cast during the break in period of my new Legend V21 and caught one.. This boat might catch em a little better then the old one! We Rode Dam to Dam 1st time ever doing that and its long but well worth it. Oh and if you thought my V20 was BIG.

Mike Davis from Ohio and myself putting some fishing time in on the new boat.. These bass ate a 4x4 swim jig with a little spanky as trailer.

Could not let Mike go home without some Big G Big Uns.

Im thinking the boat might have a horseshoe somewhere in it. These two did not give the bass any slack, if the weather and lake levels ever get steady the lake would just explode with awesome
fishing  but until then we will just grind it out.

Heres a video of the release of the Big G Donkey. I really didnt think I had a bass on the end of my line, it just did not act like a bass with it pulling drag and pretty much acting like a Stripe a big one at that, I put some effort in to the fight but the whole time I was telling myself it wasn't a bass, then it swam by the boat and IT GOT REAL pretty fast lol up to this point I was horsing it pulling hard and now I am babying it feeding it line and walking it around the boat like it was million bucks barley hooked, I did land her by lipping her and pulling her in to the boat then I was able to take a deep breath and admire this fish. I wanted to hug it! Well I did and even kissed her! Thats what the scale read at the end of the day Best 5.

Eric and I took 3rd in the 3rd annual Black Friday Tournament! One thing I can say is that we was very constant this year .. 3 tournaments three 3rd Place finishes.. Looking forward to next year!

Round 2 for these guys its like they didnt get enough the 1st go around. And once again they hammered them!

The lake is honestly fishing a little screwy this year the big ones never really grouped up and we never seen any schooling top water feeding happen, our fall is acting like our spring, it wants to get cold but it keeps warming up, and if you remember the spring it wanted to get warm but it stayed cold ( real cold). The grass is still growing in most parts of the lake and the bait is on the bridges and in the grass so take your pick where you want to fish, bridges are easy targets if you can fish one at the right time you will load the boat and fishing will seem so easy at that moment in time or you can fish miles of grass and find a hungry school of bass that will thump your lures so hard it will wake you up, but when you go back to catch them another day they will be gone. Not real sure why it is the way it is but I know one thing for sure and that is that Lake Guntersville is a special place!

My 2015 season is wrapping up and planning for 2016 and accepting your reservations now.
I have gift certificates available for the prefect Christmas gift!

Oh Guntersville

Guntersville Bass Guides  256-698-6593

She can be good to you or down right ugly ..

Still junk fishing ... Think its working pretty well.

The water is raising, more rain is coming, colder air is too, and the bass well are being bass.

water temp 69 was the high and 66 was the low
stained in most areas

We are catching them regardless of the weather during the corp. trip last week. Seemed like when you stopped getting a bite it was time to change lures and get back to catching them, if they stopped biting all together then pack up and move to another spot. Still taking a lot of work to get the bites its by no means easy out here.

When the bass fishing would slow down we would go and try to catch the Man In The Striped Suite.

Hard to believe its November. Few Notes :
We have some awesome designed shirts coming soon, and will be offered to the guys on the mailing list 1st and more then likely will randomly select 5 names and give them one of the newest shirts. I'll be sending out a email soon with all the new colors and artwork.. Click here and you will see where it says subscribe to our mailing list..

Great Week

Guntersville Bass Guides   256-698-6593

Where to start:

Monday & Tuesday was down right nasty out high winds rain cold and 2 rescheduled trips hey it happens got out rest of the week and WOW was the fishing awesome..... but still not what is to come.. Had some repeat clients and some new ones.. We had outstanding days!

Fished the Yamamoto Tournament Saturday on Lake Guntersville. My Partner for the tournament was Jeff Cook of the Music Group Alabama. We Practiced some on Thursday to get to know each other ... yea funny story..
A Few Months Back I was at Bone Yard BBQ grabbing dinner and these guys dressed the part of fishermen so I asked how they did and to find out they really didnt fish but when two of the three got up to leave the 3rd stayed back and talked with me about fishing and told me he was named by the State of Alabama The Ambassador of the sport and followed it up with we should go fishing soon, so I told him my number was on the napkin holder and to give me a call.. And that was the end of it he walked out the door,  well you would of thought I had food all over my face the whole restaurant was looking at me , and finally a lady said "do you know who that was?" of course I had no CLUE so I told her nope just somebody wanting to go fishing....... she said that was Jeff Cook and it really didnt sink in and she could tell so she followed it up with from the Group Alabama then it started to click ..
Well he did call..  And when we went the 1st time together I had to apologize for not knowing he was and he quickly said " thats ok I still don't know who you are"  HA
Saturday in the Yamamoto tournament the day started off just right with that big bass of 6.31 lbs and that was the only big bite we had we had 3 more and lost one at the boat think we ended up 10th over all or 11th.
Jeff Cook & Me on Stage at Yamamoto Tournament

Belle, Jeff, Myself

Belle, Gary, Jeff
There is a pic floating around with these two and Roland Martin when I get it, i'll put it up here.
As for the fishing the bass they are still not staying put long and are on the go, not much of any schooling going on or any at all, the rain is coming the lake will be unstable for the week might mud up some . could make the bite better or might make it tuff.. but it will still be Guntersville and the switch could get flipped any day now..
The Frog Bite is Picking Back Up.. Like I thought it would.
The SquareBill is still happing
Top Water stepped out for a little bit should be back soon
Flipping was a big player this week (big uns)
Weightless worm in the grass put numbers in the boat.
Water temp is holding mid 60s

think that covers it all

Its Stressful Till The 1st Bite.

After it doesn't get any easier, the bass are in small groups if you catch one and you don't get another bite in the next 10 cast its safe to say that the spot is fished out. And go back to to throwing the tackle box at them again for another bite, another spot.. We are doing everything we can to get our clients bites.

Lake Guntersville Frogs Hopping Away?

Guntersville Bass Guides         256-698-6593   eMail

Where has the time gone? Seems just like yesterday we was fishing with a Lipless Crankbaits for pre spawn Hogs and now the FROG Bite has gone away. And the bass are getting ready for the unthinkable.
But is the FROG Bite really gone? I don't think so if it does it will be the 1st time in 7 years the frog don't produce late Oct. to Early November. I'll have mine tied on for a little longer.

So Did You Adjust This Week?
We had to, the fish just seem to be in the fast lane, and to put the fish in the boat you had to just go fishing, well JUNK FISHING !! Throw a frog then Flip a heavy weight or crank some riprap how about a Lipless on a flat followed up with a spinnerbait how about fish this grass line with a worm oh another flat lets chunk a vibrating jig flip that dock, yes that is how the week has gone if you wasn't changing areas and baits it made for a long day but hey pictures don't lie we caught fish every day and even got to take a couple fishing that just wanted to catch a fish ( Crappie and Stripe ) thats right we left the bass alone one afternoon and caught a couple Crappie and a half dozen stripe ... and it was fun.

Congrats to everyone that caught them a lunker in the Oakley Big Bass Tour.

Frogs FROGS Frogs

Guntersville Bass Guides   256-698-6593

Frog fishing was on point this week! With more blow ups then one could keep count and a flurry of catching as the sun is going down, it was a very interesting week.

This report might just be boring since it was all about top water froggin.. Some days you had to hop the frog fast across the mat and on the same day they wanted that cadence they also would like the hop 3 times and let sit for 5 seconds and hop 3 more times or the fluke of reeling in to make another cast and one explodes on it.
Did notice that on Sunday the mats that had the 2-3 lb bass in it had a lot larger bass blowing up on the frog. We had over a dozen chances on to land a dandy but they just kept pulling off ... thats just frog fishing some days they choke it and some days its just in the lip.
Water Temp did come down some  by the weekend 72.8

I won't bore you with anymore writing

Please excuse the dark pics .. remember we had a few feeding frenzies as the sun was going down..
